Porcelain

Porcelain mug and bowl production on a Saturday afternoon.

This porcelain clay was fairly soft, so the bowls had to be left on the bats to stiffen up a bit before removing them to a wareboard.

The mugs in the background of this next shot are my standard shape, but porcelain lends itself nicely to more fluid forms. So, I threw a few that will probably become part of my standard production as well. I'll now add handles to these and let them dry fully before bisque firing, after which they can be glazed and fired in the glaze kiln next week. This batch of porcelain pots should be out of that kiln on December 13.
